BRACES YOUR WAY
Express Yourself!
Traditional metal braces are meh. Make treatment your own adding your favorite colors to state-of-the-art LightForce™ braces.
When it comes to orthodontics, some kids feel it will dampen their style. Colored braces are the perfect solution for kids who want to customize their look and express themselves. Kids and teens can choose almost any color of rubber bands for their braces and even mix and match if they want! The possibilities are endless, and we know that kids love the freedom to choose the colors that best express their personality.
What are colored braces?
Our LightForce™ braces are the best in the market, and they are the perfect choice for showing off your favorite colors. LightForce braces are 3D printed brackets that are customized for each person’s individual teeth. They are 3D printed in a white material that really lets the colored rubber bands pop!
LightForce braces are completely custom. So instead of goopy impressions, we take a digital scan of your upper and lower teeth. We then digitally plan your entire treatment on how we will straighten your teeth. Once the plan is set, the white or clear braces are 3D printed to fit each tooth in your mouth. This nearly eliminates any emergency visits to the orthodontist because the brackets fit so perfectly, they don’t pop off. LightForce braces are the most advanced bracket technology we have as an orthodontist and Mint Orthodontics is one of the only places in and around Minneapolis to offer them.
What color looks best on braces?
Choosing the perfect color for your braces is fun. It’s a chance to express your unique style and personality. So, what color looks best on braces? It’s entirely up to you!
Whatever color or color combination you like, is the right choice. Some popular choices for braces colors include purple, blue, pink, light blue, teal, green, orange, light pink, and hot pink. And remember to mix and match colors to create your own unique style.
You can always change the color of your bands at your next appointment, so don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors until you find the perfect combination that suits you best.

What color braces make teeth look whiter?
We know that having a bright and white smile is important to many of our patients, and you may be wondering if there is a particular color of braces bands that can make your teeth look whiter.
While there is no scientific evidence to suggest that a specific color of braces can make your teeth look whiter, there are some color options that can help create the illusion of a brighter smile. Generally, darker colors such as black or dark blue can create a contrast that can make your teeth look whiter.
The best way to keep that smile looking beautiful during your braces treatment is to maintain good oral hygiene. Don’t forget to brush and floss regularly to help keep your teeth healthy and bright. In addition to your oral hygiene, avoiding foods and drinks that can stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea, and, for adult patients, red wine, is a good idea.
No matter the color you choose, we are here to help you achieve a healthy, beautiful smile that you can be proud of. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and start your journey towards a brighter smile!

ADD SOME COLOR
Colored braces instead of traditional metal braces
The traditional metal braces many parents or grandparents remember from their teen years have been utterly transformed. Now in addition to metal braces there are clear braces, ceramic braces, lingual braces which are hidden or “invisible,” and even clear aligners. And now we have custom, 3D printed braces that really pop the color of rubber bands!
These colored bands let you express yourself like never before! Smile a rainbow of color? Yes! School colors? Absolutely! Match your eyes to your eyeshadow? Sure!
For many teens who want a stealthy smile, Invisalign® clear aligners are the way to go because they can be removed when needed. But not all conditions can be treated with clear aligners. And many kids, teens and even adults love to customize their treatment with color! That is where these new treatment options have replaced traditional braces made of high grade stainless steel.
There are ceramic braces, clear braces, lingual braces, self-ligating braces, and now we offer colored braces! Where orthodontics used to be strictly a clinical procedure with traditional braces, now they can be fashion choice or a chance for kids and teens to express themselves!
BUILD CONFIDENCE
Expressing themselves with colored braces is good for kids & teens
First and foremost, the purpose of orthodontics is to straighten teeth and fix jaw alignment issues. This is why metal braces have been used for decades. Patients may want a better cosmetic appearance while undergoing orthodontic treatment, but the finished product of a stunning smile is the goal.
Invisalign is popular because it does a great job of straightening your pearly whites and the aligners are easy to remove. They provide a beautiful smile and the patients’ orthodontist appreciates the reduced mouth abrasions and fewer emergency appointments from broken brackets and wires. But Invisalign is not the best choice for some orthodontic treatment needs.
In those circumstances where only traditional metal braces and wires can do the job, there are now alternatives! With colored braces, a teen can express themselves with cosmetic benefits not provided by clear aligners but without having to deal with the social stigma that some children feel with metal braces.
Whether it’s early treatment, middle school, or a few years into high school, braces can sometimes end up being more of a social stigma than an actual medical necessity. Teens can be be self-conscious about the way they look, and traditional braces can make them feel less confident. We find that when a patient chooses LightForce braces, it can help kids and teens feel more confident and comfortable with their smiles again!
